what's that color?

"what is that color?" is one of the most popular questions we receive.

i highly encourage people to match the Design Seeds palette online to their preferred color system with their own eye & sense of color. color picker programs shift hue placement and prove to not be as accurate as the human eye.

BUT

do you really really want to know?

WELL....

he have that info. we input all the HEX values to enable our new palette search to function as it does.

SO...

go to the palette you love, and mouse over the swatch you want the code for. the HEX code will show when you hold on the mouse over.

need that HEX code in another format and don't have the digital software on your computer?

then click HERE

and input that HEX code....

so what can you do with these values?

input the HEX values right into Photoshop, Illustrator, or your preferred digital software to design away.

you can covert it to your favorite PantoneĀ® specifier system ... read more about it here.

update february 1st, 2011 : in working with various paint brands since writing this post...every brand has unique standards to mixing colors and bases. stores rely on spectrometers to match color (which is never perfect matching). my recommendation if you want to match a Design Seeds swatch to a particular brand of paint, use your eye as to finding the closest match.  if there is not a close match, the store will want to use their spectrometer.

if you would like a Design Seeds swatch matched by spectrometer, find a color accurate printer to print out the palette and have the paint technician match the swatch right off your print. if you have a high quality screen / color accurate smartphone or iPad...you can try to have the spectrometer match off your screen. i do not advise and warn against digital matching software and spectrometers...but the technology is available to you.

as paint manufacturers have different color systems and bases...there is not a universal interior paint standard. most brands now have smartphone app's...these app's will give you an approximate color match (the closest color they have available to a color swatch). stay tuned as i work through this custom paint challenge. i will post the latest news and updates as to how to get your favorite Design Seeds swatch onto your homes' walls.

I have converted the hex number to rgb and gone to 3 paint stores that have told me they cannot use the rgb numbers to make the colors. Am I missing something?
